Charcoal sugar face cleanser (Lush Dark Angels)

This scrub is a dupe of the lush dark angels face and body cleanser. Its my favourite face cleanser and I use it everyday. I wouldn't put anything else on my face anymore, its gentle and keeps my oily skin in check. But every time I get to a lush store they are sold out and it is so frustrating.

So I thought I'd make some myself and voila! Its actually quite easy, who knew?... plus a bunch cheaper than what I would pay instore, and I get about three times the product! Winning! This recipe makes about 1/4-1/2 cup of cleanser - which should be enough for three months using it everyday (plus it is shelf stable for about that long). It is great for oily skin or acne prone skin - just be sure to wash it all off with lots of warm water - I recommend using it in the shower! - you don't want to be staining any white bath towels black now. WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1/3 cup White or Bentonite clay 3-4 teaspoons Charcoal powder 1/4 cup castor sugar 1 teaspoon sea salt 4 teaspoons of avocado oil 4 teaspoons glycerine 2 drops essential oils A touch or cinnamon or turmeric if you like You'll also need - Boiling water - Glass jar - Metal mixing bowl - Metal spoon Caution: this mix does stain - so DON'T use a white towel to clean up *Facepalm*

HOW TO: Boil your water and submerge your jar in it - and leave while you make your scrub (this is going to destroy any bacteria in there). Crush your sea salt down - with the back of a knife or a morter and pestle till it is a little finer.

Mix that salt, with the clay, charcoal and half the sugar. Then add half your oil and half the glycerine and your essential oils, I used orange in this instance.

Mix away - it may take a while to mix through but once you get something that looks a bit like this...

Add the rest of your oils now and mix through - if you need more oil you can add some more now and once you have something like this...

Add the rest of the sugar now into the bowl and roll the ball around till you have something like this...

Then remove your jar from the hot water and dry with a paper towel, and leave to cool.

Once its cool place your scrub ball into your jar and seal.

To use, take a small pea sized piece and mix with a splash of warm water before applying to the face, warm or hot water works best for this as it heats up the oils
