Make your own magnetic face mask

When I saw a magnetic face mask on Instagram I thought GENIUS! I had to try it. Because I am super cheap... I googled for a recipe and the only one I found said to put iron filings in... and I'm not going to lie I was a bit hesitant about putting iron shavings close to my eyes, not to mention the iron poisoning.

So I thought... what could I substitute the magnetic quality with? And I had a genius idea! Thankfully I live close to a fabulous black sand beach, which is well known for having magnetic sand.... I was much happier putting sand on my face, so I went for a walk and brought half a cup home... shh don't tell any one... the great thing about sand is that it is also an exfoliant and after trying it, god damn my skin is soooooo soft!

So what's the deal with the magnetic face mask? Science! The theory is that each red blood cell in your body contains iron and that iron is attracted to magnets... I know. Seems so simple... The oils in the mask intensely moisturise the skin, which is held in by the thickening iron particles. This helps soften and re-nourish your skin without drying it out. The cinnamon promotes blood flow and while you pass the magnet over your skin it pulls blood to the surface... which sounds kinda gross and medieval, but works a treat! Apparently its also good for wrinkles because it promotes blood flow and revitalises the body's tissues... genius! Plus its really FUCKING cool to take off! like I feel like magneto... swoosh swoosh... its so fun I could do it everyday! So..

YOU'LL NEED

  • 1/2 cup the black sand or iron shavings

  • 2 table spoons of avo oil

  • 4 table spoons of glycerin

  • 1 table spoons of coconut oil

  • 4 teaspoons of clay (white/bensonite/red/rhashool mud)

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • A magnet

HOW TO:

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, if it is too thick add some more glycerin, too thin add some more clay.

Apply to the face and leave for 15-20 minutes

Wrap your magnet in a tissue - because it'll be really hard to get the face mask off the magnet if you don't.

Remove when still wet buy passing the magnet over your skin.

This should leave an oily residue on the skin, massage that in and rinse.

B-e-a-utiful!
